Safety of human-robot collaboration in the workspace

Working with cobots means ensuring true safety of human-robot collaboration in the workspace. In order to establish that trust, Spin Robotics applied for the COVR Award, which will help us develop and validate new safety protocols and best practice guides for screwdriving applications with collaborative robots.  

During this project, we plan to construct a series of safety tests that represent different assembly use cases where screwdriving is used. Together with our COVR-partnerDanfoss Power Electronics A/S, we will screen their production sites for common screwdriving use cases.  

 

The anticipated outcome is a general screwdriving installation & certification guide – a “best practice guide” written such that people without robotic safety knowledge can install and use cobots in screwdriving applications.  

 

The COVR project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, and is driven by five national research and technology organizations, the Danish Technological Institute (DTI), the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerchethe national research council of Italy (CNR), CEA, french alternative energies and atomic energy commission and lastly the Roessingh Research and Development (RRD).
